It goes without saying that Plainview JFK High School is one of the top high schools on Long Island. Students receive an extremely high level of education from excellent teachers. All rankings go to show that this is true.
However, the material featured on the SAT isn’t always made a priority. This isn’t the fault of POBJFK teachers. Everyone knows that Plainview is a highly desirable place to live and that POBJFK is a great high school. For many teachers, though, they don’t have the time, opportunity, or know how to teach students the skills needed for success on the SAT.

There is difference between what the English SAT tests and what students learn in English class. In a nutshell, the English SAT is an exam that does test student’s ability to comprehend what was read and to correct grammar problems. Yet, the most important part of the SAT is understanding how to take the SAT. English SAT tutoring for Plainview students must focus around skill building for reading comprehension, grammar, and, most importantly, test taking skills. The SAT is a test first and foremost, and tests can be beaten if SAT test takers understand how to do so. A big part of the focus of our English SAT tutoring is on the skill of test taking. This includes logic, reasoning, and some plain old common-sense thinking tricks that mesh with the skills that students have obtained through years of quality education in the Plainview school system.

Many, many times we have worked with students in this situation and the students have actually benefited remarkably in their Algebra 2 classes because the Math SAT tutor teaches the Algebra 2 material ahead of the rest of the student’s class.
We have enough experience to know that students learn math at different speeds and in different ways. This is all part of the game, so to speak, and with Math SAT tutoring in Plainview, we have tutored lots of students and have helped them get into the colleges of their dreams.

We also hold classes at various locations such as LIU Post and the Hampton Inn in Jericho near Home Depot and BJs. This is a comfortable atmosphere that is a class format with more students than private SAT group tutoring, but we are long time teachers who don’t believe in cookie cutter, one size fits all formulas. So, the SAT curriculum is taught to students in ways that help to benefit them the most. For instance, we develop our SAT lesson plans based on the individuals in the SAT prep class rather than on what we feel comfortable teaching. The point is that when it comes to the SAT, SAT tutoring in English and Math needs to be done for the students in a way that the students feel comfortable and confident when the sit for the SAT. In life, people always judge the end result, though how they got there doesn’t matter. We are dedicated to working with students behind the scenes in various formats to help them reach their SAT goals (and exceed them) and get into the best possible colleges as a result of their SAT scores.
