TACHS Exam Boot Camp
A weeklong class dedicated to the building the skills needed for TACHS success.
The goal of this weeklong class is to provide our students with the foundation and knowledge to excel on this Catholic high school entrance exam.
With this head start, students have increased their scores and chances of admission to their choice schools.

Meet the Instructors
I have been a math teacher for 35 years. I am extremely passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I am also a parent who has sent his three children to Catholic high school, so I understand the sacrifice you are making for your child and I am available to assist with any questions about anything related to the admissions process.

I am an English teacher and test prep specialist who has taught students at the 8th grade level for over 20 years. I believe that all students have the ability to succeed more than they believe, and I strive to help students reach their potential. In addition, I regularly teach students in the SAT and ACT, and I bring my extensive background in test preparation to this program.

What is covered during the
TACHS Exam Boot Camp?
As you know, there is a lot riding on the exams taken to get into Catholic high school.
Admission to the Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens, the Archdiocese of New York, and the Diocese of Rockville Centre (Long Island) in 2025-2026 is determined in part by the results of the TACHS exam administered in November of 2024.
Our TACHS exam Boot Camp focuses on the skills, fundamentals, and strategies needed to succeed. Standardized tests are tricky by nature and require a solid understanding of fundamentals and test-taking skills. Our Boot Camp sets our students up for success and provides them with the knowledge and materials needed for success.
Students work with Patrick and Laurence over the course of the week to lay the foundation for success.
Laurence focuses on:
Reading for comprehension and understanding.
- Grammar on the test.
- Vocabulary.
- Word roots.
- Test taking strategies and techniques.
Patrick focuses on:
- The 77 mathematical concepts tested on the TACHS exam.
- Mathematical strategy.
- Mathematical skills.
- Abilities reasoning skills.

How important is a
strong TACHS exam score?
To put it simply: it’s everything.
TACHS exam scores are used for two major decisions:
- Admission into the Catholic high schools.
- Scholarship money.
Student scores are ranked against other students’ scores on a “local” and “national” level.
In essence, this is a competition.
The higher the score on the TACHS exam, the higher the chance to get into the schools the student wants and more potential scholarship money that is awarded to the student.
A lot is on the line with the TACHS exam, so it is imperative that students receive as much preparation as possible because students who are more prepared perform better and receive more scholarship money.
