Want SAT prep with expert tutors for only $25 per hour?

Not All Tutors Are the Same.

There are lots of “tutors” out there. However, you don’t want to end up like those who call us in desperation because they’ve wasted their money and precious time working with the wrong people.

You want to work with professionals who have decades of classroom and tutoring experience to guide them.

Unfortunately, if you don’t know, you don’t know.

And that’s what we’re here for: to not only help students increase their scores and get into the best colleges but to help parents so they can rest assured that their kids are getting the best of the best.

With a combined 50 years of experience, we know the SATs backwards and forwards.

We know who is out there.

And we know the difference between quality teaching and rip off.

So many tutoring and test prep companies claim that they can work miracles. However, what they do is rope you in by offering a free diagnostic exam (this is almost always one of the hardest SAT exams ever given).

As a result, students do poorly because they haven’t learned the material. (How would you do on a test you haven’t prepared for?) Then, you get nervous and pay them whatever they want to help you.

But, if they are working all day at a tutoring center, they aren’t actual certified teachers who have actual hands on experience. They are sharks looking for bait, not teachers on the front lines who know what students have lost due to the gaps from COVID.

EITHER KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING OR RUN THE RISK OF GETTING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF

When it comes to the SAT in the era of COVID, parents need to be vigilant in choosing the right teachers to work with their kids.

This is especially important because the SATs are equal to a student’s grades from 9th through 12th grade.

You have to know what is out there, who is out there, and how to best arm yourself to make the best decisions for your child. This time in their lives is too important to waste.

WE HAVE BOTH BEEN IN YOUR SHOES AND WANT TO HELP YOU AVOID LOSING TIME AND MONEY

When Laurence was a teenager he had a terrible experience with over-priced SAT tutoring that cost money, time, and valuable points on the test.

Since becoming an English teacher and tutoring for the SAT, he has received phone call after phone call from worried parents who were having the same experience as he did. Some things never change!

Patrick also had the same problem, only as a father. When he tried to find an English SAT tutor for his daughter, he was led down the path to over-priced tutoring by tutors who weren’t certified or experienced. They were just out for the money.

These companies are not out to help you or your child. They played the game with Patrick, who at the time was a 20-something-year veteran math teacher and SAT Math tutor!

If they played the game with him, they will surely play the game with you.

But what if there is a way to avoid this?

When we met during the aftermath of the Great Recession, we immediately knew what had to be done. We were both sick and tired of the desperate phone calls and the cries for help coming from parents who just wanted to help their kids and give them better futures. We didn’t want our neighbors, friends, or family to get ripped off, especially during tough times.

So, we joined together to form a different kind of tutoring business, one that works to help students and their families, a place where parents can ask questions and get honest answers, a place where students can come to learn how to be successful from two certified, experienced, and dedicated teachers.

That’s what Precision Test Prep is and that’s how it was born. Since those early days, we’ve worked with thousands of students getting great results without charging exorbitant prices.

We care about education, and we care about kids. We are teachers and fathers who treat our own students as if they were our own children. That’s what Precision Test Prep is all about.

In short, we’re on a mission to provide the best SAT prep to students and families without hidden fees, costly excuses, or anything else.

It’s Funny How Things Can Change in an Instant

Over the years, we have held SAT classes in person and worked with countless students and families to provide excellent prep at excellent prices.

In fact, we were working with students in our SAT and ACT classes and gearing up for our annual AP Review classes and New York State Regents Review classes.

And then everything changed in an instant when COVID-19 showed up.

When the world shut down in early March of 2019, we were left stranded. Like you, we were shocked and confused. But we decided to refund every one of our customers because we knew that we couldn’t meet for our classes any longer. People were losing jobs and needed the money back; it was the right thing to do.

Then, a thought occurred to Laurence. What if we figure out how to use and master programs like Zoom and provide SAT and ACT classes that focus on keeping the skills students learned warm?

We had no idea how long the pandemic would last, but we needed to provide a program for students who were taking these tests and had already invested so much time.

We were scared… Making the transition from in-person teaching to looking at a camera and teaching was extremely intimidating.

Our first times out weren’t pretty, but with practice, we fell in love with online tutoring. Students seemed more relaxed during our sessions and doing just as well as they have in the past.

We have been able to tutor students virtually for the June SAT, August SAT, September SAT, October SAT, November SAT, and December SAT.

Now, it’s time for the March, May, and June SATs! We’re exited to begin working with you!

Since those early SAT tutoring sessions, we have certainly learned a lot and have mastered online tutoring. We’ve taken our in-person methods and enhanced them.

We’ve been lucky to help so many students, and we’re proud to say that our students report to us that they love the way we present the material and work to guide them.

In the end, we are so proud of our students because they are the ones took the chance to learn in a different way and succeed while doing so.
As part of our March SAT classes, students work LIVE with Patrick Echausse and Laurence Mechanic, two of the most successful SAT tutors in the business, for a fraction of the price of private tutoring.

An Overview of the SAT

Knowing what you’re up against is one of the most important aspects of SAT prep on Long Island. The SAT consists of 4 total sections: reading, grammar, math with a calculator, math without a calculator.

The beauty of the SAT is that it allots more time per section than the ACT does. We believe that this is a major factor that students should consider when choosing a test. Given what has occurred over the last two school years, more time seems to be beneficial, based on our studies of student scores.

In the end, the most important factor in SAT prep is the tutor. A good tutor can help students improve. A great tutor can help students excel far past what they thought they could accomplish.

Take it from the moms…

My daughter received a score of 1300 on the last SAT. Up 100 points! We are very happy! Also, I have recommended your services to her counselor. Thanks again!

My son just finished SAT prep with you. First, he said that he learned so much and felt very prepared for the test. Second, I want to let you know that the time you take speaking to the students and imparting upon them your 'real world' guidance, advice, and anecdotes means the world to my son. He tells me how much he learns from you and I wanted to let you know that you made an impact, so keep it up, and thank you so much!

Just wanted to let you know Michael's SAT score was a 1240 - 620 English, 620 Math. We are very happy. Thanks so much for all your hard work with our group! You were both great with them. Michael said the sessions were a big help.

    One-on-One Tutoring

This is the most personalized option for SAT tutoring. It’s easy: Just schedule a time that works around your schedule, and Patrick, Laurence, or a member of our team will work with you at your house or local library. Lessons are completely personalized and tailored to meet each student’s needs. This is a great option for students who prefer to work alone. This level of personalization can’t be beat.

    Private Group Tutoring

Private group tutoring is private tutoring with 2 or more students at the same time. This means you get the same benefits of private one-on-one tutoring at a better price per student. In the past, we have worked with groups as large as eight and the results have been phenomenal. Since everyone is friendly and comfortable, our private groups are a lot of fun and save you money.

    SAT Classes

Our SAT prep classes are unique in that we use our experience and expertise to avoid a cookie-cutter approach. Sure, we review and teach everything, but we do so to best meet the needs of the students in the room. We teach tips, tricks, and unique perspectives designed to give students an advantage. Over the last decade, our SAT strategies have resulted in an average increase of 50-150 points per section.

SAT Tutoring on Long Island That Works

Congratulations! You are about to embark or have embarked on your journey towards college. One of the prerequisites for college admissions is the SAT. With the SAT comes preparation. On Long Island, there are many options for SAT prep including SAT tutoring, SAT classes, SAT courses, and more. However, not all SAT prep on Long Island is created equal. Please keep this in mind no matter your choice for SAT tutoring. In the end, getting the best instruction that meets your financial and scheduling means matters most to us.

The SAT is one of the most critical components of college admissions. Preparation for the SAT through tutoring, classes, and courses most definitely can increase these scores. Now, because SAT scores contribute so heavily to the college admissions process and SAT scores can increase with proper instruction, it is important for parents of SAT students and the SAT students themselves to understand that not all SAT tutoring on Long Island is created equal. Below you will find a few crucial components of high quality SAT prep. I can proudly say that we only hire and work with teachers who possess everything that is discussed in this article. In the end, when you hire us to prepare you or your child for the SAT, you are going to work with someone who we would want teaching our own children. This is more than just SAT test prep; this is a commitment to providing Long Island’s families with the best SAT tutoring available.

What are the Major Components of High Quality SAT Tutoring?

      1. Expertise

This can’t be stressed enough. You are paying your hard earned money to someone who is going to attempt to raise your or your child’s SAT scores through SAT tutoring on Long Island and/or SAT classes on Long Island. The SAT tutor should be a professional licensed educator who is a master teacher.

As educators, we know the difference between a business man who tutors for the SAT and a teacher who properly lays the foundation for growth on the SAT. The years working with students of all ages and abilities in the classroom setting means so, so much. When selecting your Long Island SAT tutor, SAT tutoring service, or SAT class, please keep this in mind. Expertise matters because no one child thinks or learns the same way. You want someone who has the experience with the SAT and the expertise to adapt the SAT curriculum to the specific learner. This is why SAT tutoring centers on Long Island and learning centers do not get great results.

Places such as Huntington Learning Center only employ young or inexperienced people who do not have the ability or opportunity to work in an actual school. While Huntington Learn Center may offer a good price point, Huntington Learning Center SAT prep courses will end up costing you in the end. In no way are we trying to belittle Huntington Learning Centers; we have the upmost respect for Huntington Learning Center’s business model. We just know the difference between quality SAT prep and basic SAT prep.

      2. Experience

As mentioned before in the Expertise section, experience matters when it comes to SAT tutoring on Long Island. However, experience in the right areas matters most. There is something to be said about SAT prep on Long Island as an art. Teaching in general is the art of conveying information to others in ways that allow that person to learn. This takes skill and years to hone. SAT tutoring on Long Island must be done by someone with the right experience. This “right experience” consists of years in the classroom developing lesson plans, interacting with students and parents, reflecting on those experiences, and spending years learning the SAT in all its various incarnations. The SAT has been around for a long time, and an expert SAT tutor knows the test inside and out, and has the experience to bring the material to the SAT student so that he or she can begin to develop the abilities to move up the SAT scoring scale. This takes patience and perseverance, our next component: patience and perseverance.

      3. Patience and Perseverance

Instantaneous gratification must be thrown out the window when it comes to SAT prep, SAT classes, and SAT tutoring on Long Island. The notion from the College Board that the SAT consists of information and skills learned throughout school is nonsense and misleading. It is only true if students have had teachers who know test-taking strategies and have had the time and ability to convey these strategies to their students. This is very difficult in a world in which 180 days of school is more like 150 days of school when state testing, Regents testing, snow days, etc. are factored in. There is so much more to cover in any subject’s curriculum that teaching test-taking strategies is something that gets thrown out the window.  With that said, it must be noted that tests such as the SAT require excellent test-taking strategies as well as the general understanding that test-taking skills are not taught in school. These skills must be learned first, and a high quality SAT tutor knows how to do this.

We want to wish you luck on your quest to score as high as you can on the SAT. We hope that we can be the ones to help you do so. Please let us know if you have any questions, would like more information, or want to begin SAT tutoring.
