What is the Focus of HSPT Exam Prep?

Our goal is to ready our students for the pressure of the HSPT. As test prep specialists with a combined 50 years of experience, we know that students at this age need more than just standard prep. As a result, we focus on fundamentals as we infuse test-taking strategies and techniques into our lessons.

The 5 major aspects that drive our instruction and prepare our students for HSPT success are:

How to read properly for reading comprehension tests

The foundations of English grammar and language

Mathematic skills at the core of the test

Test-taking tips, study skills, and reasoning techniques

Time-management, pressure-management, and confidence-management

Who Are the Teachers?

Thirty-five year veteran math Patrick Echausse covers the math sections of the HSPT, while twenty year veteran English teacher Laurence Mechanic covers everything reading and grammar.

Patrick and Laurence are experts in the field of test prep and routinely help students excel on tests such as the SAT, ACT, TACHS, HSPT, COOP, SSAT, SSHAT, and more. In addition, Patrick and Laurence utilize Zoom effectively. Because students can only see Patrick and Laurence, they report increased comprehension during the lessons and fewer distractions, all while being part of a larger class.

What Materials Are Required?

All materials are included with our HSPT classes. We host all materials on a Google Classroom and require students to submit the answers to their homework and tests. We use the results to tailor the material to the students in the class. As a result, our HSPT exam prep classes feel like private tutoring.

Is There a Difference Between Virtual Classes and In-Person Classes?

Our goal is ensure that every student learns everything needed to succeed on the HSPT.

As a result, we have tailored our online classes to mimic the feel of a one-on-one private tutoring session. Students can only see the teacher and the teacher’s board/computer screen. Students can’t see each other, but they speak with with Patrick and Laurence to ask questions and interact.

Students have reported that our classes make them more comfortable because they aren’t afraid to ask questions the way they would be in a regular class. This is important because student-teacher interaction is paramount.
